OII’s Arts-focused grants work to improve schools in several important areas to provide a well-rounded education. These areas are: arts education and integration of the arts into other core subjects, civics, cultural education, economic education, reading and gender equity. Our grants go to a variety of organizations including school districts, non-profit arts organizations, foundations, and other entities.
Assistance for Arts Education Development and Dissemination Grants Program (AAEDD); formerly known as the Arts in Education Model Development and Dissemination (AEMDD)
AAEMDD funds go to school districts and their eligible partner organizations to develop accessible arts-based educational programming, strengthen the connection between arts integration and the other academic subjects, strengthen arts instruction, and to improve student achievement. Read More
This program supports national level high-quality arts education projects and programs for children and youth, with special emphasis on serving students from low-income families and students with disabilities. Read More
PDAE funds go to school districts for grades K-12 in high poverty schools. They are to be used for the professional development of educators teaching music, dance, drama, media arts, or visual arts. The professional development should be about improving arts instruction or integrating the arts into other core subjects. Professional development models used are expected to be of high quality and are required to be implemented in schools that have a poverty rate of at least 50%. Read More
